Description
Professor Richard Fogarty of Albany University explores the ideas and values at stake during World War II, at the local, national, and global levels. President Roosevelt’s famous four basic freedoms, articulated on the eve of the war, summed up well the lenses through which many people viewed the war. We will ask how those four freedoms played a role in various events of the war, and how Americans pursued these ideals at home and abroad. And we will ask whether and how these goals were realized, and for whom. The talk illuminates some of themes in the site’s current feature exhibition, “A Special Role: St. Paul’s Church and World War II”. Dr. Fogarty is the author and editor of several books exploring war and society in the 20th century history. Free admission and parking; light refreshments served.
