The battlefield comes alive at Petersburg August 22-23!
Living historians portraying 124th New York will be encamped and occupy the reconstructed earthworks at Stop 3 on the Eastern Front Tour Road. Throughout the weekend, they will be depicting the common soldiers' life in camp and the trenches. Come learn how the troops were put to work and how they passed the time as the siege dragged on.  

The encampment will be open to the public from 9 am – 5 pm both days.

Formal weapons demonstrations will take place at:
1:30 p.m. on Saturday
12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Other, informal, programs throughout the weekend will demonstrate infantry drills, earthwork construction, and camp life. 

This program is weather permitting. Petersburg National Battlefield’s interpretive programs are free to the public.
