Home Away from Home: the Lockwood House

Lockwood House, once a college dorm, functioned as a home away from home for Storer College students and summer tourists: all races were welcome--at least for a time. Discover the tourist heyday of the late 1800s and as segregation entered the picture. As tourism wound down when "Island Park" was closed, the historic Lockwood House was up for sale. Learn about the end of Storer College and the beginning of a national park.
