Description

In honor of the 2021 Martin Luther King Day of Service, join forces with the National Park Service and the New York Marine Rescue Center to help clear Fire Island’s shore of unsightly and harmful marine debris. Learn about the sources of marine debris and the impact it has on marine life; document the trash collected to help inform ocean policy and ensure the future health of the marine ecosystem. Bring work gloves if possible. Register in advance for this event as space is limited to ensure safe social distancing. Participants will be asked to follow CDC and local public health guidelines for COVID-19. We ask the public to be our partner in recreating responsibly, by adopting social distancing practices and by wearing a face covering when social distancing cannot be maintained.
