Description

Jennie Curtis, a 23-year-old seamstress in the factory repair shops, emerged as a key figure in the Pullman strike. The women workers elected Jennie as their leader when they joined the American Railway Union and formed Local 269. Join Chicago-based writer and Pullman resident Ruth Lopez as she explores Jennie’s leadership and the story of Local 269 during the tumultuous summer of 1894, culminating in Jennie’s testimony before the United States Strike Commission.
