Memorial Day Service
Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial will honor our fallen veterans, including the three American and three British Naval Officers interned beneath the Memorial Column’s rotunda, at a Memorial Day Service on the lower plaza at 11 am. The Memorial Day Procession, led by Put-in-Bay American Legion Post #542, will depart the Park’s Visitor Center at 11 am and make its way to the Column.
After the program, a Wreath of Remembrance will be placed over the stone marking the resting place of the six veterans buried here. Bagpipes will play Taps and Amazing Grace before a musket volley and firing of the carronade. Area veterans are invited to attend the Memorial Service. Island ferry services give free passage to veterans on Memorial Day.
