Description

The National Endowment for the Humanities On the Road Exhibit Jacob A. Riis: How the Other Half Lives visits the Keweenaw Peninsula September 2 - October 20, 2019.  Visitors will be able to step back into turn of the 20th century New York City, where photojournalist Jacob Riis documented the poor living conditions of tenements that many immigrants resided in.  Riis's work helped influence social and environmental changes, as well as inspiring contemporaries that also worked to promote social change.

This limited exhibition is free or charge and open to the public during Calumet Visitor Center operating hours.
