Special Event
Alexandra Bassett moves through the world with the eye of an artist and the mind of a scientist. Alexandraโs work asks viewers to elevate whatโs below them and turn towards the quiet universe of lichen, moss, fungi, and cryptobiotic soil living at our feet.
She calls it the โmicrolandscapeโ and has been lovingly devoted to it since earning her degree in Visual Arts. Her work explores the force that bends towards order and structure in a world that concurrently bends towards entropy.

In this presentation, Alexandra will ruminate on the lichen, mosses, and fungi that call Rocky Mountain National Park home. Exploration of these important creatures reveals the missing connection of the circle of life in our park, helping us to appreciate the small things so easily crushed by our boots.
This is a lecture-based program that will be about 1 hour long.
