One Month Later: The 250th anniversary of Thomas Stone signing the Declaration of Independence

At 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 2, 2026, the National Park Service and the Charles County Historic Preservation Commission invite you to celebrate Thomas Stone signing the Declaration of Independence exactly 250 years earlier to the day.
In his presentation called “One Month Later” Park Ranger David Lassman will not only explain how and when the Declaration was signed, but also how his fellow Marylanders reacted the historic act that created the United States of America.
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, Thomas Stone National Historic Site is located at 6655 Rose Hill Road in Port Tobacco, Maryland and it will be open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with guided tours of the Thomas Stone House at 10:30 am and 12:00 noon.
