City Point is located along the convergence of the James and Appomattox Rivers, that supports life for many different species of wildlife. Keep your eyes on the sky for a powerful raptor- Bald Eagles.

The Bald Eagle was once critically endangered due to the use of harmful insecticides. Bald Eagles now thrive across the contiguous United States and Canada. This majestic bird is a symbol of the United States, and without human protection and intervention, it might have disappeared. Spotting these eagles at City Point or the Eastern Front highlights the importance of public lands in safeguarding many species. Wildlife not only enhances our lives but also provides essential services that keep our planet healthy.

Find the Park Ranger at a table located outside the Appomattox Manor with hands-on activities. Get hands on experience learning how to identify different bird species and learn the conservation story of the Bald Eagle.
