Join Fort Pulaski National Monument staff for a special program titled "Red Knots, Horseshoe Crabs, and Shorebird Migration" on Wednesday July 29, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Fort Pulaski National Monument Visitor Center.

Presented by local shorebird biologist Allie Hayser, this program will cover:

  • how shorebirds use Cockspur Island's shorelines for stopover, nesting, and wintering
  • how researchers collect and use shorebird data
  • why horseshoe crabs are critical players in shorebird migration
  • conservation efforts across Georgia's coasts
