Let’s Go Birding! Audubon Preserve
Birders of every level and every level of physical ability are invited to enjoy the common
resident and migratory birds of the monument’s high desert environment. Some of the species we
may spot include the Pinyon Jay, Common Raven, White-Throated Swift, Violet-Green Swallow,
Turkey Vulture, Juniper Titmouse, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Bewick’s Wren, Spotted Towhee, and
Golden Eagle.
This walk will take place within the Audubon Preserve, a physically accessible trail outside of Connected Lakes. Meet at the end of Dike Road before you enter Connected Lakes,
Participants should bring plenty of water, sun protection, comfortable hiking shoes, snacks,
weather-appropriate clothing, and binoculars. There will be a limited number of binoculars to
borrow for participants without a personal pair.
Bring your body, maybe a buddy, and let’s go birding in this beautiful desert biome.
