Description

Tamara Massong, local resident of Albuquerque and author of "Land of Enchantment, Sunday Drives in The Rio Grande Valley," will present a talk about her book on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023. She will incorporate driving safety, a brief geologic history of New Mexico, information about the Rio Grande Rift geology in the middle Rio Grande Basin, as well as include tour routes that pertain to Petroglyph National Monument.

The landscapes Tamara will interpret are the same lands the Ancestral Pueblo and other indigenous tribes inhabited and utilized for their survival. These early cultures are the same people who left petroglyphs in the monument. Discussion about the landscapes and their geology will be provided in addition to other interesting local history.

This program is free and open to the public. It is made possible in partnership with and support from Western National Parks Association.
