Let’s Go Birding! Red Rocks Trail, James Robb State Park in Fruita
Birders of every level and every level of physical ability are invited to enjoy the common
resident and migratory birds of the monument’s high desert environment. Some of the species we
may spot include the Pinyon Jay, Common Raven, White-Throated Swift, Violet-Green Swallow,
Turkey Vulture, Juniper Titmouse, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Bewick’s Wren, Spotted Towhee, and
Golden Eagle.
This walk will take place along the Red Rocks Trail, a physically accessible trail within James M. Robb State Park in Fruita. Colorado State Parks entrance fee applies.
Participants should bring plenty of water, sun protection, comfortable hiking shoes, snacks,
weather-appropriate clothing, and binoculars. There will be a limited number of binoculars to
borrow for participants without a personal pair.
Bring your body, maybe a buddy, and let’s go birding in this beautiful desert biome.
