Artillery Program

Pea Ridge National Military Park will conduct Civil War artillery programs on Saturday, March 9th, at 11:15 a.m. behind the visitor center. “Here was a place that tried men’s souls.” How was artillery fired? What was it like to be on the revenging end of artillery fire? Come learn about artillery at the Battle of Pea Ridge and hear the roar of the cannon. The demonstration scheduled is at 3:30 p.m. behind the park visitor center. These artillery demonstrations use the park’s 6-pounder artillery firing piece using real gunpowder but no projectile. The cannoneers will load and fire the cannon two times for each program. These programs are loud, and we recommend being aware of the loud sounds when attending with small children and animals. Please continue to be weather-aware for the day of the program. All programs at the park are subject to change.
