Type of Event
This is an interactive program involving activities and instruction followed by a short foray to see what mushrooms are growing around the amphitheater. Program begins at 10:00 AM followed by the optional foray at 11:00 AM.
Description
Come learn about the intricacies of the fungi kingdom including the families, features, lifestyles, and folklore of several currently flushing mushrooms. After doing several activities to better understand this kingdom, we’ll look at sample mushrooms as they are discussed. Then we’ll go on a short, slow foray to see which mushrooms are flushing nearby.
The amphitheater is at the end of the one-way Lake View Overlook parking area, containing the Price Lake boat rentals and Price Lake Trailhead right at Milepost 297. In case of inclement weather, there will be an interactive stop-by table set up on the side porch of Cone Manor (Milepost 294) between 10:00 am and 11:30 am.
