Description
Join us for a family camping tradition — an evening campground program with a ranger. Topics vary weekly. Check at the campground kiosk for this week's program description. Evening programs are approximately 45 minutes in length.
August 2: Stream Gems
Come to an understanding of the different types of trout found along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and explore the natural beauty within the streams.
August 9: Aquatic Adaptation
What does it take to live, survive, and make your home in an environment full of water? Come and join a ranger to explore the world of various animals found in or near the water along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and learn how they have adapted to meet the demands of the aquatic environment.
August 16: Wilderness Skills: Gambling with Survival
When your outdoor adventure goes awry can you survive? Knowledge of wilderness skills and give you more confidence when going on your next adventure. Join a ranger and learn if you can face the challenge of your experience in the wilderness.
August 23: Night Dwellers
Along the Blue Ridge Parkway, numerous animals like to come out and play in the dark. Join a ranger to meet a few of these animals and discover the adaptations that help them at night.
August 30: Would Youn Look at That
The Blue Ridge Parkway is home to a variety of animal, and one of the common questions asked by visitors is how can I see...? Well, when you turn on a camera, it turns out that all types of animals are looking to be a star. Join a ranger for a behind the lens look at the animals of the Parkway, and hear about what makes them unique.
