Description
Join a park ranger at Peirce Mill for a guided hike exploring the lives of individuals who were formerly enslaved and later lived in the area that became Rock Creek Park. Discover who they were, where they lived, and what they did after gaining their freedom. Learn about the lesser-known chapters of the park’s history and the people who helped shape it.
Recommended for ages 12 and up. Walk may be cancelled in the event of bad weather at the discretion of park staff. Feel free to call the Nature Center (202-895-6070) the day of to confirm and be sure to leave a voicemail for a callback.
Additional Information: Meet the park ranger by Peirce Mill Barn. Visitors may wish to park at Picnic Grove #2 (either side of the creek) or at Picnic Grove #1 across from Peirce Mill and walk to the meet-up spot.
