Ranger-Led Stargazing Program

Buffalo National River

Special Event
  • Mar 2, 2019 at 7:30 PM
  • Free

Explore the wonders of the night sky with Ranger Chris at Steel Creek Campground on Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 PM. Learn the ancient folklore behind the stars, planets, and constellations, and hear what Buffalo National River is doing to preserve the darkest night sky in the state of Arkansas.

Participants can meet in the large field by the Steel Creek Boat Launch. Please be mindful of your headlights' impact on participants' night vision as you are driving up to the program area. Parking is available at the boat launch. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on. We also recommend bringing warm-colored flashlights or headlamps (red light is preferable) to see where you're walking.
