The Harry S Truman Historic District National Historic Landmark
Harry S Truman held his only offical presidential press conference in Independence here on June 27, 1945. This was Harry and Bess Trumans regular polling site for more than 30 years. They even travelled back to Independence to vote here in the 1948 presidential election.
