Quick Facts
Location:
Quincy, MA
Significance:
Historic plant dating back to the 1870s.
The Chinese wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) was likely planted by Abigail Brooks Adams in the 1870s. By that time, the garden at Peace field was moving away from the vegetable garden of Abigail Adams's time to the English country estate garden that you see today. The wisteria usually blooms in May, and is located on the chimney of Old House as well as the front of the Stone Library.
