Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site is divided by a highway into two main areas: the Fort and the Bodmer Overlook. You are now near the Fort site. Here you will find a partial reconstruction of the Fort as it appeared in the early 1850s.

Bodmer Overlook
The site at which artist Karl Bodmer painted his landscapes of Fort Union is just across North Dakota Highway 1804, 1.25 miles (2.1km) away. This elevated overlook is presently undeveloped.
