Wassataquoik Gate Parking Lot is the trailhead for destinations like Orin Falls (2.9 miles one-way), Deasey Mountain (5 miles one-way), and several campsites reachable by foot. The hike to Deasey Mountain requires a crossing of Wassataquoik Stream. Barnard Mountain (4.1 miles one-way) can also be reached from this parking lot.

Accessibility:
The surface of the parking area is made of dirt, gravel, and rocks. It is leveled, but the surface can be uneven and muddy depending on the season. There are two signed ADA parking spaces available next to the vault toilet. The vault toilet meets ADA standards.

Hours:
Open 24/7 when the Katahdin Loop Road is opened to traffic.

Getting Here:
Take Swift Brook Road past the welcome sign at the Loop Road Gate. Continue for approximately 1.9 miles to meet a junction. Turn right on the Loop Road towards Wassataquoik Stream Road. Continue for approximately 1.3 miles and turn right onto Wassataquoik Stream Road. Once on Wassataquoik Stream Road, travel for approximately 2.5 miles to reach the parking lot.
