Twin Lakes State Park preserves a culturally significant landscape shaped by New Deal-era planning and the history of segregation in outdoor recreation. The park unites the former White-only Goodwin Lake and Black-only Prince Edward Lake State Parks. Today, this site aims to expand outdoor recreation and access by providing nature-based activities for large groups, especially urban communities.
As a Chesapeake Gateways Network Site, the park connects with the Chesapeake Bay watershed through its lakes, forests, recreational activities, and history. Prince Edward and Goodwin lakes offer opportunities for swimming, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
Miles of trails wind through the park’s hardwood forests. Otter's Path Trail provides a scenic, peaceful route around the lakes for hikers and cyclists. Visitors planning a longer stay can choose from campsites, cabins, and lodges. Overlooking Prince Edward Lake, the Cedar Crest Conference Center hosts weddings, family gatherings, retreats, and business meetings.
