On September 20, Confederates Commanded by former US Vice President John C. Breckinridge assaulted and briefly penetrated the US line in this area before turning their attack southward.

The four cannon located at this tour stop represent those of the famed Confederate Fifth Company, Washington Light Artillery from New Orleans, Louisiana.
