Here in Morningside Park, Knowlton’s Rangers and the regular troops were met with concerning landscape. It was a good defense, but the steps weren't here back then so they would have to climb big cliffs and boulders to get to the same levels as the British Army. Washington's army were challenged with traveling down and back up the valley.
