Think Twice About This Climb Wayside

An interpretive panel describing the hazards of descending the Log Slide
"Think Twice About This Climb!" Wayside

The Log Slide is beautiful, but use extreme caution if you decide to descend. Going down can take only a few seconds, but coming back up can take an hour or more.

The Log Slide descends 500 feet (152 meters). Climbing in steep stand is strenuous, especially on hot, humid days. Coming back up is harder than it looks.

Rescues from Log Slide can take hours due to the distance from emergency services and difficulty of terrain.

Exposed stone, rock ledges, and sudden drop-offs are common. Use caution when descending.

Be mindful of people below you: sand and rocks can roll down onto other visitors.
