Welcome to the William Floyd Estate, a unit of Fire Island National Seashore. While this historic property is perhaps best known as the home of William Floyd, a revolutionary war patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence, it is also the focal point of a diverse and vibrant array of historical communities. Join us today as we explore the land that became the William Floyd Estate, and learn more about the people who lived, worked and passed through it.

Before beginning, please be aware of the presence of ticks, mosquitoes, and poison ivy on this property. The Rangers here recommend exercising caution, staying on trails, wearing bug spray, avoiding tall grass and brush, and, perhaps most importantly, inspecting yourself for ticks when you get home.

Please, choose your own adventure by selecting the path, or paths, that meet your time and interests. The Land Use Trail begins here and continues along the boardwalk to a view of the manor house. From the end of the boardwalk, you may choose to follow the "Squirrel Lane Trail" down to the family cemetery, or visit the "Barnyard Trail" behind the Old Mastic House. Alternatively, you may want to follow the road at the other end of the parking lot to head straight to the "Barnyard Trail."
