Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

1965

Isolated from amenities, pioneers had to provide for themselves. Growing their own food proved to be a constant struggle as unreliable irrigation plagued the desert fields. Lonely Dell families endured and grew lush gardens, orchards, and fields of hay and alfalfa just north
of the modern ranch house. Signs of their labor have faded over time. Today’s orchard grows from new seeds planted by the last private owners.
