The Tappahannock Artists’ Guild (TAG) and Gallery celebrates the creative spirit of the Chesapeake Bay region through vibrant exhibits, programs, and community engagement. As a Chesapeake Gateways Network Site, TAG connects local stories, landscapes, and traditions to the Bay’s heritage through art.
Located in historic Tappahannock, TAG maintains two spaces: the Guild Artists Gallery, rotating quarterly, and a Special Exhibits Gallery featuring monthly invited artists. Works span oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, sculpture, stained glass, photography, fiber arts, woodturning, and mosaics, with many pieces inspired by the Bay’s waters, history, and communities.
TAG’s robust programming includes curated exhibits, interactive art classes with professional instructors, free children’s art activities during farmers markets, and a major annual Plein Air event drawing artists from across the country to capture Essex County’s Chesapeake landscapes. Additional offerings include seasonal art camps, collaborative downtown events, and ongoing opportunities for visitors to experience and create art.
Through accessible education, creative community building, and a strong connection to the Chesapeake Bay’s natural beauty and cultural narratives, TAG invites visitors of all ages to explore, learn, and be inspired. Learn more about exhibits, programs, and special events by visiting the Tappahannock Artists’ Guild website.
