The house known as the Sylvanus Brown House was built around 1758. However, it wasn't until several years later that Sylvanus Brown actually owned the house. When Samuel Slater first came to Pawtucket, he spent his first night in this home. At that time, the house was situated around 2 miles away, but it was moved to its current location in the 1960s. Though not part of the original Slater Mill site, it is now used to show a typical house of the colonial era, and pre-industrial technology like spinning wheels and hand looms.

This building is currently closed for restoration.
