Beneath tall, billowing stacks, coal-fired boilers boiled water. Here, the mine produced steam to power a wide array of steam powered surface equipment. These included steam hoists, which raised copper from deep underground. The boiler house is a three-part structure. One is the red brick chimney. Next to it is a tall poor-rock building with a steep hipped-roof with a small brick chimney rising out of it. The third portion is a red and white Jacobsville sandstone building with a gabled roof.
