Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits, Information

In a room with ten people, success might mean something different to every one of them. Many homesteaders considered "proving up" or gaining the claim to their land after five years to be a success. Some considered themselves successful the day they could move from a soddie style house into one made of logs, or bricks! For many, success was defined by the act of keeping on in a hard climate, prioritizing their own or their family's health, or providing better opportunities for their children than they had.
