Southern Side of the Historic Cabin

On the southern side of the historic cabin, the private kitchen entrance can be seen. Closest to the Canyons Trail, the private entrance was utilized as a secondary entrance for the cabin. If Visitor Center operations were closed for the day, the rangers and residents would utilize this door as their main entrance and exit point while off duty. In addition, a shed was built onto the southern side of the ranger cabin in 1946 and was later demolished in 1982. This add-on would have covered the modern-day private entrance and was likely to house an electrical generator as well as an icebox until the 1950s. Proceeding down the Canyons Trail, going down the CCC stone steps, you will arrive at Bush's Shelter Cave.
