Quick Facts

Scenic View/Photo Spot

In the distance to the south you might be able to pick out the Green River. This source of water in the desert attracted not only the Fremont and Ute people who once dwelt here, but before them, people going back 10,000 years. Petroglyphs, pictographs and former dwelling sites dot the landscape. John Wesley Powell boated through here on his way down to the Colorado River about 150 years ago. He made natural history observations, mapped the area, and named many features. The Green River remains a source of adventure and sustenance today.
