The house mounds scattered throughout the complex are the remnants of collapsed houses. There are more than 65 identified house mounds within the Shiloh Indian Mound village.
The dwellings were built using wattle and daub. The wattle was river cane that was woven to create the walls and roof; the walls were then covered in daub, a plaster like material that coated the river cane. The houses were circular and in the center sat a hearth on the dirt floor.
