Locals often stayed in this cottage when caring for the Snyder property. The name "caretakers" is just as appropriate for the Snyders. For 77 years the family guarded the Timucuan story. Their sense of preservation saved the information found in the mound. Otherwise, the mound would have been used to build railroad beds and highways.
