Sea Camp Beach is the most accessible beach crossing on the island. It is the closest beach to the Sea Camp Dock and is easily accessible from the Sea camp Campground. Ferry passengers can take the short 0.5 mile path from the dock, through the maritime forest, and over the dune boardwalk to reach Sea Camp Beach. Those camping at Sea Camp Campground are just beyond the dunes from the beach and need only take the dune boardwalk to arrive at the beach.

The boardwalk is a great place to view the tracks of animals that pass through the sand dune ecosystem. The boardwalk leads to an interdune meadow where you can find many plants that thrive in the moist meadow. There is a short section of soft sand that leads to the beach.  This sand can shift after high wind events and can lead to small hills at the crossing. Please stay off the sensitive sand dunes.

A bathhouse that serves as the main facilities for campers at Sea Camp is located just before the dune crossing. Water fountain and restrooms are located here. Swimming and shelling are popular beach activities on Cumberland Island’s 18 miles of undeveloped coastline. Swim at your own risk, there are no lifeguards.
