Saw Palmettos are clonal, meaning that they grow in groups of genetically identical individual plants. As a result, they often have low clumping trunks that crawl along the ground and large fan shaped leaves. Here on the east coast of Florida, saw palmetto leaves may vary from their typical green color and appear silver or even blueish-silver. These plants top off around 6 feet, and are drought resistant, cold tolerant, and salt tolerant, making them adaptable to any Florida environment.
