The Roosevelt family had a menagerie of pets including dogs, guinea pigs, horses, and even a badger. Many of their pets were buried at the pet cemetery, in a shady spot north of the Roosevelt Home. Some of the pets had their names engraved on a stone under the heading of "Faithful Friends," though there were many more animal companions buried here than are named on the memorial.
