The Rocky Point Trail follows along the western shore of Lake McDonald, within the burn scar of the Roberts Fire (2003). It offers beach access and excellent views of Lake McDonald. The trail is lollipop-shaped.

The loop portion of the hike is a nature trail that examines the critical role that fire plays in healthy forests. If you'd like to explore another trail that focuses on forests and fire, return to Camas Road and drive northwest to hike the Forest and Fire Nature Trail. A self-guided tour of that trail is available in the National Park Service App (labeled "Forest and Fire Nature Trail: A Hiking Tour in the North Fork").
