Years into the mining decline, Quincy Mine flouted its optimism for the future by investing over $300,000 to house the world's largest steam hoist. The building to house the hoist is an extravagant structure is made of reinforced concrete with a brick veneer. Finishing touches include a green glazed tile roof, which has been removed, white tile interior, and brass railings. Recent rehabilitation includes exterior concrete repair and structural stabilization.
