The neighboring "world's largest steam hoist" required a massive amount of steam to operate. In the #5 Boiler House, eight coal-fired boilers boiled water, producing this steam. The building is a tall single-story structure made from yellow brick. A shorter single-story addition with gable roof can be seen on the southwestern face of the boiler house. Steel trusses supported the roof and the walls were covered in plaster. In recent years, stabilization has occurred, preventing further building deterioration. Do not enter this building as ruins can be unstable.
