Post #9, Life In The Rocks, marks the ninth stop along the Rankin Ridge Nature Trail.

Occasionally a rockslide can create an open space. The resulting slope of jumbled rocks, though open and sunny, is an inhospitable place for most plants, and the scar is slow to heal. Though few plants find a foothold, the boulders now provide new homes for rodents, insects and reptiles.
