Plains Baptist Church was the church that Earl Carter, Jimmy Carter’s father, taught Sunday School at and served as a church deacon. President Carter attended this church until he left for college. In 1953 Jimmy Carter returned to Plains and resumed worship at Plains Baptist until he was elected President of the United States.
