The pattern storage warehouse served as a giant repository for the over 30,000 patterns that Calumet & Hecla used with “green” sand to cast machine parts and tools. The building is a two-story structure made of poor-rock, red and white Jacobsville sandstone blocks on the corners, and brick trim above the windows and doors. A single-story dry house, a location for miners to hang their wet and dirty clothes after the shift, was attached to this building. You can compare a pattern warehouse to a 3D printer’s library of files.
