A paved pathway through the picnic area, across Ruins road, and to a bridge over the Animas River. This may be the location where Antonio Armijo crossed the Animas river in 1929. This was the first journey along the Old Spanish Trail from Santa Fe, NM to Los Angeles, CA. Wayside signs are available along the 1 mile round trip trail.
