This site is in Cuyahoga Falls, a gateway to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Northampton Point can serve as a take-out for paddlers arriving from Summit Metro Parks’ Valley View Area of Cascade Valley Metro Park. This 6-mile paddle would typically take 2 to 3 hours. Things to Know for Paddlers

  • A paved parking lot, seasonal restroom, changing area, and informational bulletin board are available on site.
  • Dropoff/pickup is 500 feet from the water’s edge over a gravel path and the riverbank.
  • Class I flow to Lock 29 Trailhead with a Class II feature just upstream of Lock 29. Always paddle within your skill level.

Known Hazards

Downstream:

Just above the Lock 29 access site are the remains of a historic mill beside a natural waterfall. Do not paddle through the mill race on river left. At the waterfall, stay away from the dam remnant on river right. In case of emergency, portage left near the Main Street (SR 303) bridge upstream of Lock 29.
