Nisqually Vista Nature Trail
This meadow is one of several flower fields for which Paradise is famous. Avalanche lilies, Western bistort, lupines, Sitka valerian and mountain heather have bloomed here for thousands of years. As you continue along the trail, notice differences in the density and types of flowers growing throughout the meadows. Near the streams, dense root mats of partridge foot, lupines, and grass-like sedges hold soils in place, preventing erosion. Further from water, a greater variety of flowers spread across the fields. You are encouraged to observe and photograph the meadows for your enjoyment. Remember that meadows are most beautiful and healthy when they are intact – please do not step off trail or pick flowers.
