Neigóon
Nagoonberry

Neigóon is a prized, nutritious berry, eaten fresh or cooked in winter pies or muffins or processed to make delicious jams and syrups. A bit tart, it is often served with other berries. Before refrigeration, Huna Tlingit preserved the berries in seal oil. Nagoons grow only one berry per plant, low to the ground.
